THE WORLD IS TOPSY TURVEY
Is art imitating life, or is life imitating art?
After owning and operating LA Art House in West Hollywood for the last three years, I feel like I've
shown or been exposed to so many new and radical forms of self expression, that it sometimes feels dizzying.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but my art harkens back to Realism with a twist.
A sculpture by Henry Moore seen through roses. "Moore Roses"...(bottom left)
Two friends (or are they partners?) "Sharing Secrets" over Cosmopolitans. (bottom right)
My favorite art is figurative and narrtive. I love to tell a story in my paintings, many times adding humor or surprise.
My inspirations have come mostly from the Impressionists, although I don't consider myself an impressionist painter.
I find Pierre Bonnard's use of color intoxicating. Matisse and his simplicity, (while not being simple at all) is magical.
I love color and enjoy making the colors dance together to tease and satisfy the eye.
For me it's more important to capture the soul of a painting then the likeness of a photograph.
I don't try to paint what is currently perceived as avant-garde... rather, I paint for my own pleasure, and if my paintings
please others... that's a big bonus for me.
I hope you browse my site and by all means... leave me your comments.
I'd love to hear from you,
